My Website

My website is an information website all about the Crash Bandicoot series.

I had multiple ideas but the Crash Bandicoot idea was the smallest out of them as the other ideas were even bigger. I looked at other Crash websites like Bandipedia and Crash Mania to figure out how a Crash website should look and i didn't have much trouble coming up with how it should look. Images in Illustrator have to be embedded in order for them to appear without trying to search for them on the computer but most of my images were already embedded so that didn't take long.

(Full View of all pages so far)

The home page has the name of the website and the home page logo at the top of the screen so you know what website you are on. Underneath them is the search bar for searching for certain info you need and a random page button so you can be sent to a random page on the website.
Then there are the categories that are big and labelled properly so you know where they lead and some images to make the page less boring.
There is a small description of the website at the bottom with three buttons for categories, browsing and other info.
The colours of the page are all different to make it more colourful and easy to see where things start and end.
The font of the writing is big and easy to see, Also the logo doubles as a home page button, The logo is the series logo with the title characters face underneath it making  you instantly know what it is and the title character looks really happy too. The pictures on the home page are funny so when you open the page it will be funny.

The first page type is the categories. They contains sub-categories for further navigation. There are images at the bottom to make the page less boring and empty and the colours are still the same colourful palette. The categories include story which gives the sub-categories of games, other media and connected series as well as a timeline. Characters which has sub-categories that separate characters, Objects that are separated by what kind of objects they are, Locations which are separated by what kind of location they are and the music category separates by games the music is from.
Each categories images are related to them as well, Such as characters and objects appearing with there categories and the music category having images of the game discs.

Next type of pages are Sub-Categories which are categories inside other categories, they lead into the pages of information. An example is the protagonists sub-categories having links to pages about the protagonists of the series. These pages are like the categories in there layouts as they have the links with pictures relating to them below the links.

The final type of pages on my website are the information pages. These pages are where the actual information about the page topic you clicked on is. There is a timeline page where you can read the story of the series. The character pages include their name, species, what side they are on, where they live, their abilities and there origins with a bit of information of them. The objet pages include the name of the item, the type of item, where the items are, the use of the item and some information and origins of it.

The website went well. One thing i had to do to make my website better was to resize everything to the same size so it didn't look weird and also had to align them so the information wasn't scattered all over the pages. Some of my colours may have been a bit hard to see so i should try changing them around a bit.

Making this website has taught me how to copy and paste an entire page, i can also resize and edit images and move them around and i can get rid of the internet link on the images. I also know how to manipulate colours and add writing.

If i made this website again, i would probably change the idea completely as the current website was really big. I would probably do a website about alternate realities because that would be smaller. I might also use different colours.

My Audio Project Treatment

Idea 1: World News.
Parody of the news including different segments like sports and weather. It will be filled with pop culture jokes and references. All the characters are going to be wacky and over exaggerated.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMXRxNbPvGI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFLPbhasuk4

Some ideas based slightly on Ron Burgundy.

Image result for news desk
Because it is a parody this is supposed to be a comedy the target audience is anyone of any age because it will be a comedy that isn't rude.

The list of news segments include:
Main News (Crime, Celebrity, Traffic)
Adverts
Weather
Sports
Interviews
Entertainment

List of news stories/references:
England has lots of traffic.
Shark attacks.
Soccer team beat another team again.
cleaner advert, dusty cleaner.
A sharknado appears in the weather segment Image result for sharknado
England = rain (mostly Manchester)
script problems
grinch appearances
Interview with grinch sighting.
interview with generic pop song celebrity.
2 rival hero movies, one will be hated and underrated.
1 movie no one knows or cares about.
Disney movie that looks good.

Characters:
Fred Fungus: News host
Laura Page: News host
Gail Gusty: Weather
John Garland: Sports
Jenny Dales: Interviewer
Jeff Barker: Entertainment
Bob Billings: Video camera operator
Jarvis Green: Advert actor
The Grinch: Mentioned sightings
Sharks: Part of a news story
Paul Roland: Celebrity

Script:

Idea 2:
A radio show about superheroes.

The characters locations and story would all be created by other students and staff as well as myself.

The genre would be action/comedy and use wacky characters made by others interacting with each other.

Idea 3: Zeroes Become Heroes
Interviews about what if scenarios related to superheroes.
What powers they would have?
Why they chose those abilities?
What there aliases would be?
What would they wear?
What they think there weaknesses would be?
Who they would trust there secret identity with?
How do they think they would have gotten there powers?
What would there team name be?
Who would win in a fight? (If not enough time make it a cliff hangar using an advert as an excuse.)

I decided to use my third idea Zeroes Become Heroes where i interview people about what powers they would have. I recorded about six interviews but i realised i only had enough room for two of them along with the intro and ending. I added seven music, Justice League theme for the intro music and Jessica Jones theme for the ending and the music in the middle of the video are X-Men The Animated Series, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow and Daredevil theme's.

I had to cut out the part of the intro where i answer the questions to make more room for another interview and one awkward silence. I also cut down the music and changed the audio levels so there wouldn't be long times with just music and you could hear the talking over the music.

Radio Stations.

Capital FM and KISS are two radio stations, they both only play popular new music and then when the music is no longer new and popular they replace it with the newer more popular music.

They also both have different hosts. The people who play the music and talk about the music before and after the music plays. They also do other things though like competitions and having special guests on the show for things like interviews or just for fun.

They also host events or you can win prizes such as music concert tickets.

Here are the links to the radio stations websites.

Sometimes they will play older music to break up the repetition of the current music. During Christmas they play Christmas music.

BBC Radio 4.

BBC Radio 4 is a radio station that only has speaking with no music being played. Here is the link to there website.

When i listened to Radio 4 the current thing playing was All in a Chord, Where someone named Ivan Hewett was examining chords from Rite of Spring a radio show about analysing music.

BBC Radio 4 talks about news and events that are happening or have happened, They make radio shows for people to listen too which is like TV but without the visuals. They also talk about different topics or people and have guests come in to talk about things as well.

There radio shows can be any genre and they could talk about anything from a TV show to a country or even sounds. Radio 4 is the second most popular radio station and it started in 1967.

Radio 4 has the longest running radio drama, a show called The Archers which is a show about normal people set in a fictional english county.

https://audioboom.com/posts/536001-radio-wales-food-waste-package

Newsbeat is a news segment on radio 1 that tells you current events that have happened, It only lasts a few minutes.

One of the audio recordings they had was a poem called I Give Up it was by a 14 year old teenage girl named Izzy Dix who made a poem about being bullied before she died. The Newsbeat clip was only the audio recording and there was no interviews or reactions from other people because it was just a recording that was sent in. This recording makes you feel empathy and sadness for someone who was bullied for no good reason. For my audio project i would get interviews and opinions from other people about the topic.

The other audio was a presenter playing a new Call Of Duty game that is coming out soon with a few famous people there to play against him or on his team. He talks about the game and the few differences it has to previous entries in the series. The presenter interviewed different people about the game. One person liked the series for being fast and action packed and another revealed he learned the english language from playing the game online with others. The gameplay and interviews will make COD fans want to play the new game as soon as possible and make people who don't like the series won't care.

Radio Wales - Food Waste.

The audio clip was about food waste. They talked about how much food is wasted and how they could stop it and they talked about the charity trying to prevent this which was called This Is Rubbish. The radio clip is set in Wales. It starts with a news anchor talking about the situation before it switches to an interviewer interviewing different people down the food line, First they interview a farmer working with animals like cows for milk and then they switch to a shop keeper talking about packaging waste and finally a member of the charity but his interview is cut off half-way through. This audio clip made me worry about food waste.

Radio Presenters.

I found out about presenters on Capital FM. The first was a duo called only by there first names Dino and Pete they do weekday mornings from 6 to 10am. They usually do the usual music while talking about the usual morning stuff that happens but also mention the news and weather. They also do something called Throwback Hour where they play old songs for an entire hour.

The next Capital FM presenter i found out about was Marvin Humes. He does Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 10am where he does plays mostly dance music. He also does the top 40 chart and on Friday from 7pm to 10pm.

Website Design Research

A website is a place on the internet where you can use a search engine to find almost anything you want.

The main things that all websites and web-pages need are a title so people know what the site is, sometimes a logo or icon will help people recognise the website more. You should use images, sounds or videos to make the website more interesting. Also the pages should be easy to find with navigation links or buttons.

Amazon and eBay are both sites for selling and buying things online.
Shopping sites should be easy to navigate and should have a search bar for quick and easy searches for objects.

eBay and Amazon are both well made as they have a big navigation bar at the top, there logo in the top corner and a few navigations to some suggested lists of sales. They both have a few images of things that you can buy on the sites as well to be random examples. These sites are attracting people who need to buy things online.

NNC is the website for North Notts College. It is used as an advertisement for the college so new people can decide if they want to become a student there. The website also has information for students like days off or events and timetables.

NNC is very boring looking and can be confusing at times because it is hard to find some information because some of it is on the bottom. The website uses a lot of different colours which makes it look slightly better. NNC also uses generic pictures of random students instead of interesting images and the students images are not that varied with things like age, Making younger students not want to come to the college. However older teenagers and adults might think the college is mature and may be looking for older students of nineteen plus.

YouTube is a website for watching and uploading videos. As a video site it needs to be easy to find what you want to watch using the search bar and to find similar things that you don't know you would like.

YouTube is easy to use because it has a big search bar at the top, It also has suggested videos and popular videos, showing a lot of videos that look interesting to you however there are some videos that will show up that are not interesting to you because they are generic filler.

YouTube has a sign in icon in the right top corner so you can sign in and it is easy to upload videos.

YouTube is for anyone because anyone can make videos and anyone can watch videos. The videos will appear to you based on what you watch so if you listen to music a lot you will get certain genres of music shown to you.

Google is a search engine that is used to search for websites and anything else that you want to find.

Google is simple with it's logo and a search bar with nothing background. There is also a log in in the top right corner.

Foley Artist

A foley artist is someone who creates sound effects for things like movies or TV shows.

Sometimes they have to re-create sounds if an actors sound was lost or too quiet.

They use a foley-studio or foley stage to record the sounds because the room has the right sound-proofing and adjustments to allow the sounds to be recorded properly.

They can also record sounds to go with the real sounds to allow the sound to be louder and more noticeable.

An example for the types of sounds they make is the sound of feet walking because the sound is usually drowned out by other sounds.

One of the most common ways to make the sounds is using your mouth to make noise, record yourself doing the actual act that you are trying to get sounds for or using inanimate objects or foods to make noises with like a balloon.

They also make noise for reverb or echoes that are in certain types of rooms if the actual sound doesn't give off that effect.

Audio Project: Task 1

Boom Mike

First we plugged the boom mike into port 1 of the video camera, there is a port 2 as well.

Next we put all the switches to the right settings.
The microphone was in input one so you switch channel 1 to input 1 but for channel 2 you switch it to internal because there isn't anything plugged into port 2.

Then we plug in the headphones so we can hear the sound.

The boom mike is best used for inside a studio or on sites because they can record the background sounds and ambience.

Handheld Mike. We first had too format the device so we could record the new audio. We had to go into the others menu of the main menu and then to system. Then select quick format. Then click yes and the format will finish.
The handheld mike runs on batteries. Now we can start recording with the mic.

We also needed to make sure the SD card is in so we can save the audio. Then we just press play.

The handheld mike would be best used for when you want to record yourself or if you are mobile as they are light and easy to carry.

Wireless Mike

The wireless mike runs on batteries and goes on top of the video camera. then we change the settings of the camera and the mike so we can start recording.

The wireless mike is best used for recording with a video camera or being used in places like interviews.

Radio Studio.

To use the recording studio we first have to make sure that the computers switch is on so we can turn on the computer tower and screens.

Next we need to open Genesys the recording software. The first screen has the playlist and the right screen has the already recorded audio in a list.

Now record your voice using one of the two mics. There is one in front of the computer called the presenter mic and a second one for guest speakers called the guest mic. until you have all the voice you need and then click stop.

Make sure you adjust the volume sliders before you record to make sure that everything can be heard and on a good level. The way you know the sound is recording is if the red light on the wall is on.

To save the recording you export it into a .WAV file and save it to the file you want. Then you can listen to it anytime you want or put it into an editing software to alter it however you want.

History Of Radio

Ofcom and Copyright.

Ofcom is where you go to send complaints about radio stations. They will listen to or read the problems and deal with them properly. The problems they will solve include the protection of under 18's which is where they make sure that mature content will not be shown before 9pm so that young people don't hear about it. This is referred too as the watershed.

Another thing they will stop is bad language such as swear words or offensive words. Since some of it is live if someone says something by accident they have to apologise right away. Also things to do with crime, violence and other bad things would also not be on until after 9pm.

Religion and politics are not allowed to be talked about in a favourable way and you have to stay neutral when talking about them. You are also not allowed to be offensive in any way at all.

You also have to be fair to everyone and anyone with no bias to anything and you have to respect everyone's privacy and gain someones permission for things like interviews and other things, You also are not allowed to talk about products unless you have been paid to do so.

Copyright is saying that you own something and if anyone else uses it they are breaking the law. Radio stations have to have permission from copyright owners to use there stuff in there shows.

Things that can be copyrighted include Music, Art, Written things, Sounds, Video footage and recordings, animations and basically any creative thing that could be made like fictional characters.

To copyright something you have to pay for it and renew that copyright payment every time it expires, you can also mail it to yourself to prove the date that you made it.

An examples of the Ofcom having to deal with breaches of the law include an Australian radio station calling a hospital pretending to work for the queen to get information about the pregnant princess Kate and breached her privacy by doing that, it also lead to the nurse feeling bad about the situation and taking her own life.

Another thing that happened is Rustle Brand was a guest star on a radio show hosted by Jonathan Ross and during the middle of the day they decided to ring and leave a message on Andrew Sax's phone detailing how Jonathan Ross had slept with Andrew's granddaughter which was breaking multiple rules because they talked about stuff during the day so under 18's might have heard it.
It was also private information about Jonathan and Andrew's granddaughter that they recorded live on the radio and also leaving an inappropriate message on Andrew's phone.
